So last Friday I came home to a porch full of Missoni shipment, part 2. And by full I mean there were 5 individual boxes. Do not know why each milk crate had to be packaged individually when they all came from the same warehouse?

Looks like UPS got a heck of a workout (and payout?) on this whole Missoni/Target shipping mess! But no matter, I’m a happy camper. I’d have to say the ottoman is one of my favorite pieces so far. I’ll be spending my 14 hours on the plane tomorrow to think about how to redecorate the living room around this one piece of furniture!

BTW, instead of packing yesterday morning I was busy McGyvering that black/white zigzag Missoni tank dress into an Aline skirt–removed the straps, replaced the elastic for the waist, and voila! I’ll post that pic when I get back from my trip since I still have to break out the sewing machine to tidy up the parts.

Anyway, for now I am 98% packed and rather antsy. I’ve got a long stretch ahead of me, juggling the road with work while still battling my allergies. But I’ll be back here once I’ve reached the other side in a few days. Till then, here are some funny pics of a “canstruction” of Hello Kitty (isn’t it clever that she’s made of tuna cans!)…sigh, speaking of Hello Kitty, I have separation anxiety from my furkids already. Sure wish they were as travel friendly as I am!

Every September when school supplies go on sale and the media begin covering the changing of the seasons in other parts of the country, I sit in my shorts and flip flops and dream about the one perfect pair of Fall boots. Next to the slingback, boots have my heart in the world of footwear. If I were a shoe designer, I’d specialize in boots. Now, granted the leaves won’t really change colors so dramatically and we’ll probably still wear our flip flops with our “winter” clothes well into December here in LA, this first month of the last quarter of the year just gets me in the mood for some boots hunting.

And this year, I actually happened along this Chanel pair while waiting for a friend of mine to meet me for lunch.

My first thought was, hmmm, gaucho boots. Perfect for walking around the Argentinian pampas! Cute concept but perhaps a bit mad once on the legs?

When my lunch date, S, arrived, we discussed the boots. They’re a big investment, so we discussed some more. We even went to try them on in black at another boutique. Funny, but in black lambskin they look totally different, more equestrian and less cowboy. S knew I was falling for the cowboy so we visualized some outfits with a few of my bags…and now that the boots are here, these photos are for her:

Actually, I think these boots would look really nice over a faded pair of skinny blue jeans, extra starched white shirt, man’s gold watch, and a Balenciaga Day bag. These boots scream for a slouchy bag–if only I had one in the same color as the boots… :D

So remember how, on that fateful Target Tuesday, I survived the mob scene at the store then in my stupor (let’s call it my PTSD moment) ordered some more stuff online? Well, after much anticipation and anxiety over whether any of my order would get cancelled, the first box has arrived.

Let’s take a peek at what showed up in this Missoni shipment, part 1:

The black/white bath towels are definitely my fav! Super plush! The card boxes that you see there are about the same size as the media bins but they have a lid. Great storage items. I also got an email from Target that the matching milk crates have also been shipped from the Minnesota warehouse. What are the chances I’d get them here before my trip next week? Slim to none, so I suppose there will be another a Missoni-related blog entry here some time in December!

And here’s a picture of all the travel pieces I managed to get…if only I could find that suitcase, which after all would be the most useful to me. Maybe I’ll cave in and snag one from ebay!

So, have you all recovered from Storm Missoni? When I last wrote you, the Target site had a meltdown and their Facebook page was full of unhappy shoppers, especially those who felt this collaboration was their one shot at owning a piece of Missoni. Orders were cancelled, delayed, or lost. Over 34,000 pieces of merchandise then showed up on ebay to further feed the frenzied masses. So a technical disaster on the distribution side combined with capitalistic resellers made for an interesting few days. Fortunately for me, my online order is being filled, albeit literally one item at a time. I think we all got free shipping from Target, and I can only imagine what a nightmare it must be for them to have to send out multiple packages to each customer. Rough lessons for all around.

But I’m happy to report that the tiny zigzag comforter/shams set I got looks fab in my bedroom. I almost have the Italian vibe going on in there, but I’m still miles behind Rachel Zoe in Missoni’ing my abode! And here’s a shot of of one of the media bins mixed in with my Liberty for Target bins on my desk at home:

This weekend I went trolling through a few Targets for returns and found some leggings and these adorable ballerina flats for Lil A (can feet be this small!)…

but the whole time I’m thinking I’m sooo over this. I can’t bear looking at another empty Missoni shelf! And that’s mostly because my head is already churning over a rather long upcoming trip that will probably span two very different continents. Where does the packing even start for significant climate changes! Well, I think I will begin the traveling wardrobe with this Balenciaga Day bag in anthracite…

which actually started with the matching bracelet you saw in the first photo. Now if I can only figure out what shoes to pack…

I have some Missoni confessions to make. All told, I actually hit 4 Targets yesterday, not to mention a little damage online when the Target site finally resuscitated itself. If I don’t have to set foot inside another Target for three more years I think I’d be OK. But I’ve sorted through my loot and, as promised, here are the modeling shots of the ones that made the short list. Sizing is a bit inconsistent so I’ll indicate which is which. Overall, the quality is akin to the M Missoni line but the general aesthetic is true to the main orange line.

These first two tops are from the girls’ collection. Lil A has the poncho and so does her mom, so I thought why not triplets for the next photo op in NYC? But I’m actually not sure this will ever see the light of day–it is an XL:

I actually love this hoodie cardi; it’s a size L and it fits ok if I leave it unzipped. I found it in XL online so we’ll see how the sizes compare when that gets here:

The next ones are from the women’s line, all size XS. The first cardi is a sparkly one with lurex thread very typical of their main orange label line:

I think this lightweight blue cardi will look cute over a sundress:

These are silky pajama pants that might double as palazzo pants under one of my black slinky Missoni sweaters:

This is the sundress I saw from the door as I was waiting in line yesterday morning–it will definitely require alterations so I don’t have to pinch it in from the back as I’m doing here:

Finally, this last pic captures the extent of my zigzag obsession…who would ever want to match a shirt with a serving plate?!
