Today’s ODJ is about transitioning a Chanel 08A jacket from work to play. Last night I took the (sparkly) jacket down a few kilowatts by pairing it with black jeans and a black t-shirt to watch the Clippers play the Mavs:
The Kardashian clan (Kris, Kim and Kloe) was courtside…
and each time they were shown on the Jumbotron, the crowd booed. Tough audience. I wouldn’t want that kind of fame for anything, but on another note, I wonder if mama Kris was wearing something Chanel like she usually does
…
So speaking of doing other things while watching the game, I just realized, after all these years, that the ceiling of the Staples Center looks like it belongs in a spaceship:
And I also examined my purse–as I’m prone to do when I have to sit still for too long–and thought how weird it would be if one day my forehead looked like the inside of my 2.55 flap…I’d resemble my bag, sort of like dog owners and their pets:
At least there’s Botox for me. But till that day happens, I’m going to heed my mom’s recent advice and enjoy it while I still can.
So if that means wearing a fancy jacket to a basketball game, I might show up at the Spurs game in a ballgown!

So January is already zipping by like a calendar on speed, and I can smell 2013 on my heels. As a way to de-stress and still have fun here at this blog, I think I’ll try to post more ODJs (outfits du jour) this year to document my addiction to you know what. I think besides looking at the fantastic editorials in magazines and online glossies featuring Chanel, it’s just as fun to see Chanel in action, on every day gals like me doing mundane things. And maybe come December 31, 2012, I can review the ODJs I’ve posted during the year and assess whether I can keep doing what I’m doing or totally revamp my look (what a fab excuse to go shopping!).
In today’s entry, I’m in my LA dress-down mode to watch the “new and exciting” Clippers demolish the Rockets:
The 2.55 flap is my favorite go-to small bag for the moment. It transitions seamlessly from day to night. The only problem is I often forget to close the lock:
Did I already say Blake Griffin and Chris Paul just killed it tonight?
We love having two professional basketball teams in LA; two reasons to have fun at LA Live on warm December nights…especially when you can have veggie sliders and a dark beer before the game starts (this was the first time I tried a chocolate-flavored ale)–hmmm, there goes one of my resolutions (eat better) already:

One of my favorite places in the world is right here in my backyard, so whenever I have visitors, we always head to Griffith Park to check out the hiking trails and Observatory.
On this sunny day back in early December of 2010, there were tons of kids at the Observatory on a field trip…
including this one (!)…
and we all got to enjoy the tremendous grounds just below the Hollywood sign:
Even though I didn’t get to tinker around with the telescopes,
I did manage to learn a few things about the stars and planets around us–including the fact that I’m actually not an Aries anymore…
Once we filled up on food for the brain, we headed outside to work up an appetite for tonight’s big dinner. Up here on these many trails, it is easy to see why we put up with mudslides, earthquakes, and traffic jams in exchange for this perfect LA Day at Griffith Park…
We hiked for over an hour, but there was not enough time to make it to the Hollywood sign. Yet the uphill climb…
was enough to clear our conscience for this night’s buffet at the Staples Center during the NBA game between the Spurs and the Clippers:
My Spurs were humiliated that night after only bringing their C game to LA. I might have to burn this shirt

I can’t promise this particular series will always have exciting photos, but the whole point is to show this iconic bag’s versatility.
So from the dressier Look 1 I’m taking it down a big notch to a very casual day at one of the Clippers’ last games. It was actually all about going to see the Mavs here in LA, and the fan-appreciation-night bobble head doll you see above is of Blake Griffin; the Clippers sure could have used him last night in its massacre by Dallas.
Anyway, I’m wearing the bag with a GAP motorcycle jacket, which I think needs to be softened by a pink cashmere muffler. Under the jacket are a black tshirt and jeans.
BTW, remember that old coin I mentioned a couple of entries ago? Here it is with my me+ro bracelet:

Coming home after 5 weeks abroad is a bit unsettling. I wouldn’t call it jet lag but rather brain lag, as in trouble remembering passwords. And how to drive. But give me 24 hours to sort through a box full of mail, lots of packages (!), and some of that famous LA sunshine and I’ll snap back to my life away from the road. But as it turns out, there’s been nothing but serious rain here–though the sun is peeking out today–and I’ve come home to one surly furkid on strike…
jury duty (which happens to be an attempted murder case and I’m both fortunately and unfortunately dismissed from the panel), and the stray who’s NOT on strike:
Does he look like he hasn’t grown all that much since I last blogged about him? I was going to take him to the animal shelter with the heavy rains and all, but then one day he showed up with 3 more cats in tow, all different breeds of various ages. I don’t think they were his posse or entourage since he was growling at them to defend his food. That same night an overfed raccoon made an appearance on my patio so now I can’t leave food outside for him anymore.
But where was I? So yes, back in LA, this weekend has been all about sports. We have two NBA teams here, the beloved Lakers and the stepchildren Clippers. It doesn’t really matter to me who’s playing for LA, though, because I’m all about the San Antonio Spurs. See number 20 on my back in today’s first pic? This is the real number 20:
And this is the court inside the Staples Center where the Clippers and the Lakers play:
But up there in the rafters, it’s all purple and gold, hence the stepchildren reference to the Clippers:
But I have to say, if the Clippers were another winning team it’d be much harder to score good seats at the very last minute to see my Spurs. And in these seats at the premier level–where you can opt to dine in the San Manuel Club (food is actually pretty good) or be served in-seat–
it’s the best way to get over that brain lag. The Lakers are hosting the Spurs tonight–will see if my Ginobilli jersey gets to go out again today.
On a last sports note, did anyone notice that the New Orleans Saints’ owner’s wife was wearing a CHANEL jacket from the 09P season? I know they were hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy and all but I just wanted to see her jacket in high-def. Now that’s a Super Bowl moment for me!
