Before I could even unpack my Marni for H&M loot from the last trip, the DVF for GapKids collaboration rolled around. Due to some success with the fit of the Stella McCartney for GapKids line, this big kid had to go and find out for herself. So yep, once again the walk of shame into the kiddie dressing room…
Love the spring colors and prints, but no matter how young I may feel in my head, I cannot pretend that I can pull off these (pre)teen looks, no matter how cute that blue blocked dress might look as a tunic over leggings.
BTW, that blazer above is super cute–on a ten-year-old–and if you want to know about fit, the sleeves are roomy enough on me in that XXL size but the armholes are very tight. And I’m no Popeye. Cannot comfortably button it either, and I’m definitely no Pam Anderson.
So anyway, no keepers for me except for these knit tanks (love the fabric) that may add that pop of color under my black cardis and jackets:
I think I really need to just shop in the adults section from here on out…
I like the jacket on you actually! The jackets were left with very small size when I went.
I got a tee and a pair of espadrilles from the collection. 🙂 Did you know, they have 3 designs of the paperbag?
Missy: if you are talling than 5’3 i think it’d be hard to fit in those dresses. i adored the tank dress but the straps were way too short–proportion is definitely more off with dvf than the stella collection 🙁
April: it’s definitely time for me to get out of the kiddie section.
d: i think you may be right that it might be the kiddie prints that are not acceptable for a grown woman to rock. lol
Be proud to pull off the kiddie look! I raid A&Fkids all the time for hoodies and cute tops. For me, acceptable if solid or light prints. Just ordered a DVF tunic top just in time for spring!
Aww – bummer!! I was seriously contemplating going to GAP to check out those very cute dresses! I think I’m actually taller than you and definitely a larger size than you too – so, I’m glad I read your review before I headed to my nearby GAP. 🙂
Yeah, I agree with you about shopping in the adult section. I used to shop the kids’ section until it got ridiculous.
